Jessica is originally from Fort William First Nation (Anemki Wajiw) in Thunder Bay Ontario. Her given name is Sagaate, which translates to “sun rays”. She is a member of the mukwa dodem, bear clan, and her ancestry is Anishinaabe, Finnish, English and Irish. Jessica’s mixed ancestry highly influences her therapeutic approach, providing counseling for children, youth, adults that is grounded in Indigenous-Relational, Trauma-Informed, and Multi-Cultural Feminist perspectives. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2015 with a BA in Child and Youth Care with an Indigenous Specialization and completed her Art Therapy Diploma with the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute in 2022-she is in good standing with the Canadian Art Therapy Association.

Asa Tooshkenig has been a practising RMT since 2014. She began her career at the Forbes Five-Star Sense Spa located in the historic Rosewood Hotel Georgia and later moved to the Fairmont Pacific Rim. While with the Hotel Rosewood she gained foundational knowledge and a passion for providing the highest level of service, by international industry standards. She is delighted to be able to carry this same standard of service into her position with the Skidegate Health Centre.
